Pancakes and beer

Not together, of course.

I've always made pancakes from a mix, but recently someone mentioned they always make pancakes form scratch ... to which I thought, "Why am I not making them from scratch?" So, I looked up a recipe online and made them from scratch. It took twice the time as adding water to a mix (so four minutes instead of two), and they were delicious.

The recipe I used is here. If anyone has a favorite pancake recipe to share, let me know.

The beer is from earlier this week. I went to my favorite beer bar, Churchkey, and drank a Barrel-Aged Mama's Little Yella Pils by Oskar Blues. It's a pilsner aged in port wine barrels for five months (or so). It had great flavors and was definitely something I can't find just anywhere.

Also, Churchkey had a nice compliment for Schalfly in this tweet from yesterday:
NEW DRAFT: Schlafly American IPA: We can't get enough of this fantastic brew...balanced malt w/ tingly pine flavors and apricot aromas
I'd prefer if they had the Kolsch again, but at least Schlafly is getting some nice recognition!

You know what's better than homemade pancakes? Homemade waffles.
