Parents' visit: Part 4

Monday
We visited Maryland's capital, Annapolis, on the bay. We started with a tour of the State House. Then wandered the streets and finally ate lunch on a dock by the water. I made sure we had some crab dip (well, at least Dad and I did; Mom is allergic to such things).

Next, we took a tour of the Naval Academy. We also visited the Naval Museum on the campus, where we saw more ship models than I cared to look at. However, some of them were pretty interesting. They had intricate models that had been carved by French prisoners of war out of woodchips, beef bones and anything else they had access to.

The midshipmen were practicing for a dress parade set for later in the week, so we watched them practice, parade around and get yelled at.

And on our way back to Silver Spring, I introduced my parents to IKEA. Unfortunately for Dad (and fortunately for Mom), they were flying back so couldn't buy much. But they did pick up a catalog.

So, they had a very full trip and headed home Tuesday.

See more photos from the visit in my Spring Album.
