I took the Metro to my work stop today so I could watch Mizzou's basketball game. I'm sure it was on at plenty of other bars, but I knew one place there had satellite and plenty of TVs. (I know it's shocking that the Mizzou game wasn't the MAIN game playing on East-Coast CBS.) While there, I shot a few photos. Above, the Capitol (as I was heading home after the game). Below, shows my office. I work in the building to the right of the construction.
I also visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception this morning. I had been there when I interned in the area in 2003 -- and also with my family years before that -- so I knew what to expect. But I was still amazed how huge it is. Tons of chapels all around both levels. (It has an upper church and a crypt church.) I happened to show up on the day that the Most Rev. James P. Keleher, Archbishop Emeritus of Kansas City, was celebrating the noon Mass. Back in the day, he was bishop of the Belleville Diocese in southern Illinois, so it was fitting. Below is one of the many chapels, as well as a photo of the outside of the basilica.
