H Street

Some of my favorite D.C. bars are on H Street, an up-and-coming area in the northeast quadrant of the District. The H Street Festival this weekend was a perfect chance to visit some more bars and restaurants there and check out the scene. The festival had a number of blocks closed down with various stands of food, music and information.

I also checked out a few bars that were new to me. The H Street Country Club is a new place I had been wanting to visit for awhile. It includes a nine-hole mini golf course upstairs, with cheeky references to D.C. people and sites. I also visited the Pug for the first time and was quite impressed by the no-nonsense dive bar with excellent bartenders.

I rounded out the night by joining a group at a friend's house near H Street. He has an amazing place with a rooftop deck in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
