Lovin' the music

I saw Brandi Carlile perform in D.C. last week. This is rare for me because (1) I don't go to many concerts and (2) I don't actively buy tickets or drag others with me. (In other words, most concerts I go to are free or are attended due to someone else's urging.) Chalk it up to my being cheap and not being obsessed with too many musicians.

However, Brandi Carlile makes the list of musicians I was excited to see. If her name sounds familiar, you have probably heard her song "The Story" on the radio in the last couple years. I became a fan after hearing that song and now listen to her albums all the time. She happened to be in D.C. a day after her latest album, "Giving Up the Ghost," was released, so now I'm a proud owner of that, too.

The concert was great. I really enjoyed hearing her live and seeing her and her band. It was a mix of acoustic and "rocking" songs that made for a great time.

I had never heard of Katie Herzig before, but she opened the show and has an amazing voice as well as some really fun songs. She's offering an acoustic trio album download for free through Nov. 1, so I recommend visiting and checking her out.
