The rain started falling here sometime on Thursday. ... And it didn't stop. By my measures (meaning when I went outside), it rained constantly from Thursday until sometime Sunday morning. It's still cloudy, but at least I was able to walk across the parking lot and get some groceries without getting wet.
Three cheers for free food
I ended up eating dinner with some friends at Old Ebbitt Grill on Friday night. I had almost the exact same dinner as I did when I went there the first time with my parents — and I was just as impressed with the food. (This time, our group shared oysters, then I had the trout entree again.) When the waitress came to take my plate, the busboy was right behind her. I asked her for a box, but as they were clearing the table, my request got lost.
So, a few minutes later, the waitress returned to tell me she put in an order for another trout and would have it out to me in a minute. I told her that wasn't necessary, but she said it was coming, so I thanked her. (I only had about one-third of the trout and a few green beans and potatoes left when my plate had disappeared. It wasn't a big deal.)
My "trout to go" came out in a to-go box a few minutes later. In addition to the full piece of trout, I also got the full complements of green beans and potatoes again. I'm planning to (start) eating it for dinner tonight. I'm pretty sure I'll have leftovers yet again.
Visiting a new museum
One of the few (if not only) Smithsonian museums in D.C. I had never been to was the National Museum of the American Indian. That changed Saturday when I spent the rainy afternoon in the museum, which opened in 2004. The exhibits were set up very well. My only complaint is that there was SO MUCH information to take in about so many different groups that I only had a vague overview remaining in my head after I left.
