Not too long ago, I caved and bought a pet fountain for my kittens. It was from part desperation as Loki had decided he had to swish the water out of his bowl EVERY TIME he took a drink. I also thought they would appreciate it since they're both enthralled with drinking out of the sink.
After a brief period of adjustment (1 minute for Loki; 20 minutes for Griffin), both decided the fountain was a great place to drink -- and play.
