Midwest trip: St. Louis
I spent a few days of my September trip in St. Louis. While I saw friends part of that time, I also had some time alone while everyone else was at work. My friend let me borrow her car, so I explored the city with lots of short stops. (Yes, I had done and seen all these things before.)
I stopped at the Muny, even though now shows were playing midday Thursday.
I stopped at the zoo to visit the awesome penguin exhibit.
And the 1904 World's Fair flight cage. The sign says that after the World's Fair, the Smithsonian planned to move the cage to the National Zoo in D.C., but St. Louis residents fought to keep it there.
I looked down Art Hill, even though there wasn't snow for sledding.
And I checked out one gallery with my favorite paintings in the Art Museum.
Then, I breathed in the familiar beer smell in Soulard and took an Anheuser-Busch tour in my old neighborhood.
The next day, I took a tour of the Schlafly Bottleworks with some friends and had some of my favorite beer.
