India: Christian Dharamsala

 Also in Dharamsala, we visited a Christian church, St. John's in the Woods. It was an old church built by the British with an old cemetery beside it. The church's pastor lived in the church, which had pews in the front and plastic lawn chairs for seating in the back half.

'Tis the season ... in March.

We were there around May 20 and it still had a Merry Christmas banner and a nativity scene on display. The church's storage area appeared to be along the back and sides of the sanctuary.

The inside of the church included a few plaques, one that was in memory of a man who died "by an attack from a bear."

We took an overnight bus back to Delhi. It was a bit rough on the mountain roads and had no bathroom. But we did stop at a "rest stop" on the side of the road late at night. Eating the food at this open-air restaurant may have been risky, so we avoided it, though we did use the dark Indian-style bathrooms.
