India: A Quick Delhi Stop

At Lodi Garden.
We left Agra by 11 a.m. and ended up with a layover in Delhi before our overnight train took us to Amritsar.

During our hours in Delhi, we visited Lodi Garden, a beautiful park in Delhi that includes many crumbling ruins and tombs. Lodi was the quietest place we had been since landing in Delhi, so it was a welcome break of serenity.

While were were relaxing on the grass, some street performer children came up with mustaches painted on. They did some acrobatics for us (but were very cautious of the police officer who kept passing nearby and likely would have shooed them out of the park).

These men made our tikka rolls.
In return, we gave them some rupees and some chai from a passing chaiwala. (We were in the practice of drinking lots of chai by this point. I don't even like tea, but when it's loaded with sugar and milk as Indian chai is, it can be pretty tasty. I also enjoyed the mini cups chai is served in — just my size.)

On the way to the train station we stopped at one of Adam's favorite tikka roll stalls. We waited as they grilled our chicken and made the rolls. When we ate them on the train later, they were delicious.

While we waited for the train, I had my first real frustration with Indian queues. People don't form lines. Instead, they form queues, but they don't act in a first-come, first-served way. So, I went to a busy cafeteria room to get a bottle of pani (water). Luckily, the cashier took pity on me after a few minutes and waited on me as opposed to the other guys pushing money at him.
