Fancy Schmancy

I got all dressed up and went to the correspondents' dinner pre-party last night. In the process, I realized I have almost nothing fancy anymore since I never use it. I did have a dress, and I wore the ONE pair of strappy heels that I still own.

The street was blocked off by the Washington Hilton, and people were lined up outside the main entrance to photograph the celebrities. Our party was in the top hallway, along with those of many other journalism organizations (ABC News, the Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the Atlantic/National Journal, etc.). We had drinks and mingled and wandered around the hall with others. I didn't see major celebs really. But who did I see?

• Morgan Fairchild
• Ski Johnson
• Adm. Mike Mullen
• Eric Holder
• Rep. Eric Cantor
• Rep. Darrell Issa
• Some other Congressmen

The list of celebs downstairs was pretty stellar (Chace Crawford, Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson and many, many more). A few co-workers snuck down there, but I didn't attempt it. Maybe next time. I still had great fun, though!
